Aimed at ages 12 and up, our production of Shakespeare’s classic cursed, and so-called Scottish play has a contemporary flavour. It is centered on the fall of a man whose lack of moral integrity, combined with his wife’s ambitions, draws him away from himself and ultimately to his doom.

Double, double toil and trouble;
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble.

Based on the original Shakespearean text, Salamander’s adaptation has been carefully abridged to captivate young audiences while preserving the main thrust of the challenging source text.  We explore the themes of light and dark, magic and logic, greed and revenge. We also explore the angst of romantic relationships and the darkness of jealousy. The success of TV shows like “Buffy the Vampire Slayer” and movies like “The Highlander” have inspired our vision for a slick and stylish presentation, which includes choreographed swordfight scenes.

By the pricking of my thumbs,
Something wicked this way comes.

An interactive event, it will also offer drama activities, cool crafts and snacks, as well as information about Salamander Theatre and our work in local schools and in the community. The Gala will be of interest to kids, parents, youth educators and advocates, as well as those with an interest in the dramatic arts.
